Member Spotlight: Ecosystem Investment Partners, Sustaining Member
Why are you an IMA member?
Ecosystem Investment Partners (EIP) has a longstanding commitment to supporting the mining industry in northern Minnesota and across the country. We recognize the vital role mining plays in the region’s economy and infrastructure, and we value the partnerships we’ve built with industry leaders who are dedicated to responsible environmental stewardship.
What does your organization/company do?
EIP provides mitigation credits required by state and federal permits. These credits are generated through large-scale environmental restoration projects that restore and enhance wetlands, streams and other natural habitats. Among EIP’s eight mitigation banks, Minnesota is our largest site, spanning over 24,000 acres of wetland in St. Louis County.
How does the iron mining industry impact your company’s operations?
Minnesota’s iron mines are some of our largest and longest-term credit buyers, reinforcing the strong relationship between responsible mining and ecological restoration. We take pride in helping these operations meet regulatory requirements while supporting the long-term of Minnesota’s natural resources. These partnerships are a testament to the industry’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
How has the iron mining industry changed during your career?
Over the past decade, we’ve seen Minnesota’s iron mines work diligently to secure permits and demonstrate their dedication to responsible mining practices. Companies have consistently proven the necessity of their operations while embracing environmental accountability. As regulations evolve, so does the industry’s commitment to balancing resource extraction with ecological preservation, ensuring that both economic and environmental needs are met.
