IMA Hosts 27th Annual Member Golf Outing
Yesterday, the Iron Mining Association of Minnesota (IMA) hosted its 27th annual member golf outing at Giant’s Ridge. Professionals from all aspects of Minnesota’s wide-reaching iron mining industry gathered on golf courses to network with other IMA members and hit the links.
“It’s really an extraordinary feeling to see key players from so many of Minnesota’s iron mining -related businesses together on the course,” said Kelsey Johnson, IMA President. “This group of people work together to create a powerful force in Minnesota’s economy. The IMA is extremely thankful to work with so many great members – and to enjoy a nice day on the course communicating and building relationships with all of them.”
Over 200 people – and over 50 teams, participated in the golf outing, which featured 18-hole round of golf on two preeminent golf courses, as well as dinner and a raffle giveaway.
“This event is really a way for IMA members to build relationships with key mining professionals throughout the state and nation,” continued Johnson. “Each member plays an important role in Minnesota’s iron mining industry – whether mining the mineral, building the equipment for transporting or processing or simply helping us build support throughout the state.”
This was the 26th time Giant’s Ridge has hosted the IMA’s golf event. IMA members played both the Legend and the Quarry for the event. The Quarry, which is ranked as the number one public golf course in Minnesota by Golf Digest, was built on the site of a former Minnesota iron mining operation.
“We are extremely thankful to Giant’s Ridge for hosting us once again. The courses and hospitality are always top-notch – our event here is a guaranteed success! Plus, it’s fun to play on a course that showcases the opportunity of reclaimed iron mining land,” said Johnson.
