IMA Expresses Condolences Regarding the Loss of Wayne Brandt

Posted September 13, 2019

On behalf of the Iron Mining Association, I would like to express our deep condolences regarding the loss of Wayne Brandt, executive vice president of the Minnesota Forest Industry and the Minnesota Timber Producers Association, who lost his battle with cancer last night.

At one time, Wayne served as the president of the Iron Mining Association.

A distinguished and thoughtful leader, there are few people who can say they have the same tenacity and courage when fighting for an industry they believe in. Wayne was thoughtful and deliberate in his decision making, yet, was quick and candid when expressing the facts. He was a force that helped establish and drive efforts to support our state’s economic growth. It is difficult to lose such a giant in the region, forest and timber industries but he will be remembered as a fierce advocate and passionate pioneer for his work.

Wayne was a supportive mentor, a dedicated colleague, and, above all, an inspiring friend. Again, we extend our deepest sympathies to his organization, friends, and family during this difficult time.

Very Truly Yours,

Kelsey Johnson, president of the IMA
