Job Posting: Engineering R&D Intern
American Peat Technology
POSITION DESCRIPTION –
Join APT for a hands-on engineering internship focused on evaluating innovative water treatment
media for use in fluidized-bed bioreactors (FBBRs). You won’t just collect data, you’ll conduct testing,
analyze results, identify what matters, and help make recommendations that could shape the future
development of a commercial water treatment technology.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Conduct hydraulic and column testing of existing and prototype water treatment media.
• Characterize physical and mechanical properties that influence media performance.
• Analyze experimental data and compare media performance with granular activated carbon (GAC).
• Identify trends and relationships between media properties and hydraulic performance.
• Develop engineering conclusions and present recommendations to APT’s technical team.
WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
Hands-on experience with water treatment technology, fluid mechanics, column testing, materials
characterization, experimental design, engineering data analysis, applied R&D, and product
development, all while working directly with experienced technical professionals.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Third- or fourth-year engineering students or recent graduates in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental,
Civil, Materials, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field. We’re especially interested in students who
are curious, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable solving problems independently. Previous
laboratory or research experience is helpful but not required.
