Iron Mining Association of Minnesota celebrates 25 years

2017 marks the 25th anniversary for the Iron Mining Association of Minnesota (IMA), a trade association working to promote a healthy iron mining industry in Minnesota.

In the past 25 years, the IMA’s membership has grown from the iron mines to the businesses that provide goods and services to the mines as well as local groups and individuals who support iron mining in Minnesota.

The association is led by a board of 35 members representing the iron mining companies and supporting companies.

IMA members are active in environment, energy, education, and tax policy and are dedicated to their communities. Members share valuable information through a committee process focused on Environment, Safety & Health, Workforce & Education, Membership, Public Information, and Government Affairs. Each committee helps guide the board and IMA President Kelsey Johnson.

“We are excited to be celebrating our 25th year and highlight the members who have been with us through thick and thin,” Johnson said.  “As we slowly see a turnaround it is a perfect time to celebrate all the things that make Minnesota mined iron the best in the world.”
