The Iron Mining Association of Minnesota (IMA) – the trade association that represents Minnesota’s iron mines and the companies that supply goods and services to the iron mines – announced the results of its annual board elections this month at its 25th annual meeting and dinner.

Also new to the 2018 board are Producer Directors from Cleveland-Cliffs, Chad Asgaard, general manager of United Taconite, and Paul Carlson, incoming General Manager of Northshore Mining.
They join the following board members: William Bond (ArcelorMittal Minorca), Jonathan Holmes (ArcelorMittal Minorca), Patrick Bloom (Cleveland-Cliffs), Sandy Karnowski (Cleveland-Cliffs), David Bednarz (Steel Dynamics), Mark Lorenz (Steel Dynamics), Chrissy Bartovich (U.S. Steel), Tim Kalisch (U.S. Steel), Larry Sutherland (U.S. Steel), Jon Anderson (RMS Tritec), Art Lind (Lind Industrial Supply), Brian Maki (Lakehead Constructors), Bruce Mars (Conveyor Belt Services), Nels Ojard (Krech Ojard & Associates), Jim Perry (Furin & Shea), and Matt Thibodeau (Thibodeau, Johnson & Feriancek).
Also announced this month was the appointment of Ed LaTendresse as the IMA’s new Board Chair. LaTendresse is transitioning from general manager of Cliffs’ Northshore Mining to Hibbing Taconite, where he will take over the general manager role when Jack Croswell retires later this month. LaTendresse will replace outgoing IMA Board Chair Larry Sutherland, general manager of U.S. Steel’s Minnesota Ore Operations. His term at Board Chair ends this month.
“I am honored to once again hold the position of IMA board chair,” LaTendresse said. “This great organization continues to grow in numbers and engagement from the mines, supplier members, companies, and people who support the industry. Together, we have one common goal, and that’s to strengthen iron mining - an industry that has been in Minnesota for over 130 years.”
